First Real-World Data Study Reaches Enrollment Goal
PrECOG, LLC’s PrE1702 study has successfully reached its target patient accrual goal, thanks to the outstanding efforts of participating sites, investigators, research staff, and patient volunteers. Special commendations go to study chair Suzanne Cole, MD (UT Southwestern/Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center) and co-chair Maya Khalil, MD (University of Alabama/UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center), for their dedication and expertise in guiding this groundbreaking real-world data (RWD) study.
RWD is becoming increasingly important in today’s healthcare decision-making. PrE1702 is the first study of its kind from PrECOG and ECOG-ACRIN, and the first study by these groups to receive funding from the US Food and Drug Administration. It is evaluating the feasibility of using RWD, collected through a registry of well-characterized patients, to compare outcomes among individuals with EGFR-mutated non-small cell lung cancer receiving osimertinib-based treatment outside of a clinical trial setting, including osimertinib alone or in combination with chemotherapy or immunotherapy. Researchers will compare these outcomes with those from EA5182.
Through this study, investigators expect to gain a better understanding of the impact of these commonly prescribed treatments. Results will also aid in creating a roadmap to guide future RWD collection strategies. Read the Trial Spotlight on PrE1702.
ECOG-ACRIN Welcomes New Advocates
Please join us in welcoming five new members of the Cancer Research Advocates Committee (CRAC), who bring the patient perspective to ECOG-ACRIN scientific committees. CRAC members, who are cancer survivors and caregivers, advise research teams at key points during clinical trials. From design and informed consent review through activation and results reporting, they represent patient needs and concerns while offering unique experiences and connections to their networks of cancer support organizations, patients, and other advocates for bi-directional communication.
We are pleased to welcome Laurie Adami (Lymphoma Committee), Jud Kimmel (Gastrointestinal Cancer Committee), Greg Lund (Genitourinary Cancer Committee), Stefenie Perry (Lymphoma Committee), and Dr. Jeff Rubin (Myeloma Committee). Learn more and view the full CRAC roster.
